David Heritage was born at International Falls in 1926. He was the only child of Mabel and Alfred Heritage. He graduated from International Falls High School in 1944. After high school he served in the Navy. He then attended Gustavus Aldophus College and UMD and earned a teaching degree in English. During college, he met MaryLou Holmberg, they were married and 1949. He graduated from college in 1952 and in the fall taught English in Littlefork for 2 years. In 1952, they moved to Hibbing. He taught English at the Lincoln for several years. Throughout his early years teaching, he coached hockey, wrestling, and football. He eventually moved into administration at Lincoln. He moved to the high school in the fall of 1978 to be assistant principal. He also has been greatly involved and advisor of the Student Council for ten years. He has organized the talent shows, homecoming, and jacket jamboree events. He also has been involved with Knowledge Bowl. He has coached the teams to many victories and trips to state tournaments. He is very dedicated to the students and their activities.
Throughout his professional career of 38 years he has earned his Masters and many credits beyond. He enjoys working with students.
On behalf of the entire student body, we dedicate this book to David Heritage, for all of his guidance and leadership throughout his career, and wish him the best of luck.
