Cory Mayer, 40, died early Sunday morning in an all-terrain vehicle accident south of Hibbing.Mayer owned and operated three Hibbing businesses Cory Mayer Catering, Animal House Pet Supplies and Unique Seasons Gift Shop.
Family, friends and business associates this week are remembering the man for his talent, kindness and willingness to volunteer.
Mayer is best known in Hibbing for Cory Mayer Catering, which he's run out of the Androy since 1997. Hosting several annual events such as community Easter brunches, Thanksgiving dinners, Christmas parties. The business also hosted weddings for private parties and fundraisers for community organizations.
Mayer's life will be remembered by family and friends at a visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 8, at Dougherty Funeral Home. A brief sharing of family memories will be held at 6:30 p.m. that night.
Mayer is survived by his partner, Jerry Crittenden; mother, MaryAnn Mayer; father, George Mayer; siblings, Cheryl Karakash, Stacy Knezovich and Kurt (Marie Bukovich) Mayer; nieces and nephews; and many friends.
